I Found These Hookah Smokers - 10-11-2009, 10:13 PM

I was looking for an isolated location where I could do some nude photography, when I ran across these two people smoking what I think is a hookah. Their device let off a lot of smoke, and the whole area within 50 feet of them smelled strongly sweet, like hot blueberry syrup. Does anyone know what they might have been smoking?

An herbal mixture, most likely. It's a legal thing, usually. They sell all different types of flavors, so it was probably a blueberry mixture.

Actually, I've looked for places like that. All of them that I have found are a long way away from me. This particular facility is 1.5 hours' drive! Then, there is the entrance cost ($35/day). I've considered making a visit, perhaps as part of a longer trip, but it isn't particularly attractive to me as a photographic destination (and, I understand that these places aren't too keen on photography on their grounds, anyway).

Besides, it isn't like I wouldn't meet these rogue ATVers and smokers, anyway. This is part of my neighborhood, and I go hiking and exploring through there on a regular basis, simply to enjoy nature.

I wonder why they would go into the woods to smoke a hookah? Seems like it would be easier to smoke in a back yard, than to carry it out in the woods. There are some nightclubs in Dallas that offer hookahs. I think they can get around the smoking ban, because it isn't tobacco.

Its a mix of fruit molasses and tobacco (and some nicotine of course). Its a very smooth smoke. It comes in different flavors, the most popular being double apple.

I hear you can smoke hash with it but I never have nor do I know anyone who has.

this one is mine...

The hookah bar in Deep Ellum is closed not sure about Addison.

You can smoke all types of things in a hookah (high end water pipe) but because of the odor I bet it was a tabacco mixture mentioned above and the kids just didn't want to be known as smoking one or they didn't want to share.

Rather odd, I was just at an event that you would expect a lot of hookahs to be in use and I don't think I saw one being used though I do know that "product" was being consumed.

It isn't a subtle form of smoking, that's for sure. And, they were within easy sight of passing traffic along a bridge (that's where I first saw them). One would think they would be there to hide, but maybe they were there as a favorite haunt?
