Talking Something to do around Houston - 10-13-2009, 08:03 PM


I am looking for something to do this weekend. Something family oriented small children about 2hrs around the houston area. Camping is out do to the weather. Maybe somewhere I could take some pics... That would be nice.. Help!!!!!!!

still not recommending RenFest as family oriented.....especially if you have any aversion to acres and acres of mud.

Mercer (I'm in a rut, but it is on your side of Houston) has the Botanical Gardens on 1 side of the street (Aldine-Westfield) and the Arboretum on the other. Arboretum has playground stuff for the kids, trails, park-like; trees...duh. Botanical side has flora for you altho it can be slim this time of year. And if all else fails, a Public Library next door.

How close is Rusk-Palestine to New Caney? Perhaps more than 2 hours but the Texas State RR is having a Day with Thomas.

Something to do around Houston? Hmmmm... how about live another day without being stabbed? There are definitely parts of Houston that scare me quite a bit! Another forum I'm on has plenty of Houston horror stories.

pumpkin patch is fabulous or dewberry farms this time of the year is neat they have a corn maze...alot of fun
