Ralph Lauren model Filippa Hamilton: I was fired because I was too fat! - 10-14-2009, 10:57 AM

Photoshop to the max....

"Ralph Lauren's clothing company fired the model whose body looked emaciated in a touched-up ad because she weighed too much, the woman told the Daily News Tuesday.
Filippa Hamilton - whose hips appeared slimmer than her head in the recent altered ad - said her contract was terminated in April because she was too heavy.
"They fired me because they said I was overweight and I couldn't fit in their clothes anymore," she said.
The 5-foot-10, 120-pound stunner was amazed to see her body digitally distorted for Ralph Lauren Blue Label..."

She was on NBC Today show and she said that she was a size 4 (under the new version of size 4-looks like it varies from week to week) and they asked her if she was going to sue RL and she said NO but then the reporter asked her again is she going to sue RF and she had to repeat PROBABLY NOT, all the time setting next to a Cosmopolitan Editor who offered her a multiple page spread in the magazine.

Really if a model sues a person who she had worked for since she was 15 she would be shooting her career down the toilet since no one would want to work with her, there are plenty of up and commers willing to do anything to get into those upper echelon slots.

BTW that Japanese pic looks like she weighs 85 lbs! (slip up my asterik!)

They also talked about some of the more curvy models of the last decade or so and how the designers are going back towards the Twiggy look and away from the Cindy Crawford look. Really who wants to see Twiggy in Sports Illustrateds Swimsuit Spread vs Cindy?

By the way Esquire is now doing videos of their cover models http://www.esquire.com/video/ the one up right now is Kate Beckinsale and it is HOT to say the least- btw there are a few bits of lighting set ups in a few seconds of the video.

I still don't get why the fashion industry prefers such small models. I don't know anyone who thinks the typical high fashion model has an attractive body. I guess they are like politicians in that they feel the need to to tell us what we should like.

I prefer ladies built like London Andrews.

Why don't they paint faces on toothpicks and use them for models? Seems it would be cheaper and get that ugly look they appear to be striving for.

Seriously, it's the art department at Ralph Lauren that should be fired.

No kidding, that retouch looks absolutely ridiculous; I can't believe somebody actually approved that.

I wonder what the rest of the story is...

You are a model. You were hired based on your looks so you shouldn't be surprised when you lose your gig based on your looks no longer fitting what they want.

Shut up and model.

Really? If you model for someone like Ralph Lauren then you will have a job somewhere else. If you will read one of the first posts it indicates that she was offered a job. Sorry, no go.

I repeat, Shut up and model.
