Smile Help!!! Miley Cyrus Concert - TIPS! - 10-14-2009, 01:19 PM

Im taking the kids to see the concert tomorrow night in San Antonio. Any tips?

Like, is the ATT concert place in the hood? Should I bring ear plugs? Lighters (kids use glow sticks, right?) etc??? Tip me over!

Ive also been trying to find out if cameras are allowed in. I havent found anything. I mainly wanted to take shots of my kids rockin out, but I wasnt sure if they were photo nazis or not. Does anyone know?

Camera's are a go....we had ours at Rascal Flatts

The ATT Center is not in the hood, more like not the greatest place, once you get in the lot all is good. We parked at the end, reversed in so when the concert was over we didn't have to fight to back out.

I would pack light, bring cash and glow sticks. It wasn't that loud there.

Did you bring a consumer camera or your pro one?

And thanks for the parking tip! Good idea!

It was our consumer....but security was very laxed, I think they did check bags though.

The T-shirt line was absolutely crazy, my preggo wife about got into a fist fight with some man that pushed her out of the way. All the good ones sold out by the end of the show.

Hah - well, my first tip was not to go, but if you're being a good mom and taking them, then you'll just have to suck it up and suffer through. But, I can tell you, no one uses lighters anymore. Everyone has a cell phone. They light up. No fire required. In fact, Monday night, Bono said he wanted to see the stadium lit like the Milky Way and everyone dutifully pulled out their cell and/or iPhone and held them up. It was actually pretty cool to see them all, like little twinkly stars. I'd just take a P&S - you won't get a hassle about having your camera there, you won't have to worry about it and you can catch the shots of them before the concert, etc. just having fun. I took the G9 to U2 -got a few decent shots, like everyone else.

Yes! I always wear ear plugs at shows, and it makes the music sound better, because most shows have piercing mids and highs.

Plus, the ear plugs keep your ears from ringing in bed when you try to go to sleep! Go to Home Depot or Lowes and get some from the same area they sell hard hats, masks and eye protection.

1997????? Holly, you gotta get out more! Sometimes I take a purse, other times no. Same with sporting events - if I can get away with just sticking some cash in a pocket and traveling light, I'll do that. Anytime. Purses do get searched nowdays, so be prepared to open it for inspection, although that is often pretty half hearted. I think they are primarily looking for video-recording devices.

Here's a tip: Ignore her. Then she might go away.

I get very concerned when I see my 8 & 12 year old granddaughters watching her.

instead of a purse the wife usually swallows her pride and uses an ancient fannypack in situations like this.

Walgreens etc has ear plugs. Get 'em.

Do you think getting there at 5pm is too early? They are doing the paperless tickets and the card I bought the tickets with was stolen, so we have to go to will call. You think we'll be the only ones there then? I was hoping I could grab the kids some food and let them wander around a bit. Is that realistic?

Pandemonium. Chaos. Rent the DVD.

5pm? What time does the Will Call window open? I would be there before they open.
