If you could ONLY carry three lenses...
Think about what you mostly shoot, in my case it's sports so I would carry:
Canon 300mm 2.8 IS (don't have that 400mm just yet)
Canon 70-200mm IS
Canon 28-70mm 2.8L (don't have the 16-35mm mark II yet)
Would it be different for portrait work or weddings - remember, only three lenses...... | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

If we are carrying, like on vacation, it would be my 14-24, 24-70 and 70-200.
If I was in the studio I'd have to replace the 70-200 with my 90mm macro.

I carry four with me most of the time. Depending on what I'm shooting, I could leave one of the last two behind.
For music shoots:
70-200mm 2.8L
16-35mm 2.8L
15mm 2.8
For weddings, or assignments needing detail shots:
70-200mm 2.8L
16-35mm 2.8L
50mm 1.4 | | | |

If three is all I'm allowed...
16-35
24-105 (or 24-70 if I want faster)
70-200
In fact, considering what I like to shoot and my style, those three lenses would cover me just fine. They are currently what I use.

Well, I usually only use one lens, the 24-105 f4, but if I had a choice of getting two more, I think the 85 1.2 and the 35 f2.

Today my answer is 24 PC-E, 45 PC-E, and 85 PC. But ask me tomorrow and I might tell you it's 14-24 AF-S, 24-70 AF-S, and 70-300 VR.

For my Nikons it's the 28-70/2.8, 70-200/2.8VR & 300/4.0 AFS. Of course I always cheat and have the Kenko 1.4 & Nikon 1.7 TC's in my pocket.
