I think for me if we lost the internet, I'd just wander around town and random break up huddles of people saying something like:

Hey, want to talk about things? I don't mind talking about things you like but at some point in time I'd also like to talk about things I like.

And then just randomly wander away just to come back like 15 minutes later to see what they are talking about now.

This to me is RL forums.
