Once you get hit with OC, you will be very reserved in its use. That **** sets your pores on fire and feels like its melting your eyes out of your head. They use the non lethal stuff to make sure you can still function as part of the team if you end up on the receiving end of any of this stuff and also so you you know exactly what it does before you use it on somebody else. It sucks but its good training.

Yeah DH has done these and now is the instructor.
He did something stronger than OC, which they now won't allow them to spray.

Yeah... I think the videographer/reporter are a bit left leaning.... it's the same two that interviewed Brad and I, and she was asking 'do you blame the military'... etc... Brad was like 'no'.

It was definitely the APPROPRIATE answer... lol....

It depends if you use the definition of torture, or if you mean it is the loosest sense. It is not torture. Painful? Yes. Very painful? Yes. Torture? No

I hope so, because anything lethal wouldn't allow you to function at all... ever again! Kind of the point of lethal, I suppose.

I have the highest level of respect for our military. My Grandfather was a Marine DI, 2 Uncles in Vietnam, one grandfather landed as the 2nd wave in Normandy, the other grandfather was holding the rifle for a man that raised the real flag at Iwo Jima. All of that said... I am glad they are doing that training. Torture???? torture is not being able to perform and costing a fellow soldier his life, torture is what you get if you are captured, torture is what your family goes through if you come home in a box. Those men are not being tortured, they are being trained.

Thanks Keith... you are absolutely right... they are being trained.

I spoke with Brad afterwards - he said - quite seriously - that it'd probably be considered more human to shoot someone than to use this stuff... it HURT... but, it would be very, very effective. (as the other guy said)

If someone can get close enough to you in a firefight to spray anything in your eyes, it almost doesn't matter what it is. Your goose was cooked long before the got close to you and shot or stabbed.
When I was in Germany years ago, my entire company decided in a strangely democratic fashion that we would rather not stop and take the required 30 seconds standing still to mask up, all the while essentially unarmed and defenseless just to avoid a little gas that we could run through in 10 seconds. Yeah, we can do this, and we did, on several occasions.
That was good training, much better than what we went through.
