No, it will upgrade Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional, thus only 90 bucks. I almost jumped on it myself until I noticed the parenthetical phrase on the title.

Thanks. That's the way I interpreted it as well but wasn't sure. Glad I asked!

If you are upgrading, pay attention to what you are getting.
Lots up options to upgrade from one version of Win7 to another (Home Premium to PRO or Ultimate, etc.)

If you are upgrading multiple machines....M$ has a fairly low $$ family pack/multi-pack options available.

Win7 Home Premium Family Pack : available direct from MS site or other places like Amazon (~135-149 for up to 3 PC's)

Win7 Version Comparison at: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...e/default.aspx

there is no upgrade path from Windows XP -
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...79(WS.10).aspx

You will have to purchase the full version then do a clean install over XP...

My understanding is that there ARE upgrade SKU's available for upgrading from XP to Windows 7.

However, you cannot install it as an "upgrade". You will need to back everything up, and do a fresh install. MS in including a wizard that will help with importing your settings from XP. It won't transfer your applications, though.

Upon further research, this is what I've discovered. I think I'm going to wait until I get a new machine with W7 installed. I'm due one anyway.

Thanks for all the replies.

That's pretty much what I've decided. I'm thinking I'll wait until after the new year before jumping into that pool. Vista is limping along "okay" so no real rush other than just to have the newest.

Been running W7 Enterprise at the office for a while now and its smooth as silk.
Will be installing it on my machines here probably over my Thanksgiving lull.
