So, I was doing a search for my name, which I do every few months or so, and I noticed this twitter site: http://twitter.com/pink_vintage. The avatar image is of my bride and groom Jaclyn and Luke (that is not the person running that twitter site). The images off to the left side is of my other bride, Jackie. Now, she does credit me on the right hand side of her twitter page, but if you go to her website/blog, the first huge image you see is of my bride Samantha. I am not credited for that one. Since this is kind of a blog and a twitter thing, should I be upset she is using my brides' images without asking me? Here is the blog page: http://pinkvintagelove.blogspot.com/. | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

If you deem it to be unauthorized use of your work then you have every right to be upset! An e-mail stating who you are with a request to have the images removed should do the job. If not, then legal action is the next step.

Thanks, guys, I just wasn't sure since it was more of a blog thing. It just seemed really weird, and yes, I would love the exposure, but on the actual blog, she doesn't even credit me.
Another site was using an image of mine of shoes that's on my website, but they did credit me, and they aren't using my brides' faces.

I would be..I let some guys from a hotrod group use some of my images but my only stipulation was that I was credited for the images. Two things, one they asked permission, two they did credit me for the images. That is just common courtesy IMO.

Thanks, I know, I would have let her had she asked, but it says courtesy of me on the Twitter thing. I was like, I didn't give you permission. And to use my image as their avatar pic and their main heading on the blog? Weird. lscottpht added 1 Minutes and 36 Seconds later...Double Post Merged Below
Hmm, I don't see a way to contact her. Maybe I'm missing it.

As has been discussed here and elsewhere ad infinitum is the fact that the vast majority of people have no idea what they are doing is wrong and illegal.
Whether we decide to advise them that their actions are wrong is a matter that only the photographer can deal with. Where do you draw the line ?

True, Tom.
I don't think I can send her a tweet unless she is following me, correct? I looked to see. I did tweet it to everyone following me.
I will do that, Patrick. I appreciate that she likes my work, and she seems to be a bride, but at least ask me first.

I would ask her if she's looking for a wedding photographer if she looks like a potential bride. If she says she has one, then advise her "that it is a kind thing ask for a photographer's permission before posting their images on the internet and credit is usually given". If she asks for permission, give it to her, she might have friends and if you land 1 wedding(or really one shoot in general), then I think it will be worth the effort and makes you look like a good guy(or girl in your case).

I think she is getting married in the DR.

Ditto the others. I'd also ask her if she would mind sharing how she found your photos. She may well have found them straight from google image search. :(

Well, apparently she is on my FB, that's how I finally got in touch with her. She didn't say sorry except for the fact that she forgot to credit me on the blog. So, she asked how I would like to be credited, and I told her to put my website link on it. I know, I'm too nice, but I figured the extra exposure couldn't hurt.

Yup, no sense really getting into something over it. She doesn't appear to be pretending your work is her own or really selling anything based on it, so what can you do beyond the link? *shrug* | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
