A Secret - 11-03-2009, 04:15 PM

I used to be in a business where I bought a LOT of fabric every year, 70,000 yards the last year, so I know a good source when I find one :)
Wherehouse Fabrics, 2675 Perth St, Dallas, 75220 214-352-4908
And yes that is the correct spelling of the name
I have been there twice now, and really like some of the selection they have. The have some 90" wide goods for 3.99 a yard, 5 yd min. They also have some black poly/cotton that although not the best, would work as a BG.It's 120" wide I think it was like 4.50 a yrd.
Just thought I would let ya'll know.
Perth is off Harry Hines, about 1/2 mile S of Walnut Hill.

Too bad they don't have 107" rolls, like seamless backgrounds. However, this could work well for shooting smaller groups, maybe three and less? Thanks for the info...

Jason - find a seamstress - I use lots of fabric and if it's not wide enough, I'll make it wide enough.

David - I hate you. Could you find a place like that for me in Houston? ;-)

Donna, I'm sure there are some places in Houston like that, Fabric Wholesale in the yellow pages.
Just as a FYI to everyone, the place I am talking about has 42- 120" wide fabric.

Do they have black cloth for camera bellows? The favored material seems to be hard to find lately.

David thanks for the heads up. I think I will head down today as I need fabric to cover trade show walls for an up coming event!

Bondarnes has mentioned a company in Denton that manufactures ladies garments and I have been contemplating a drive up there to see what they have. A lot depends on my cash flow. I'll be needing to go to Cabelas next week anyway and will likely combine the trip. I'll let y'all know what I find.

In your experience, would you happen to have come across a canvas backed vinyl by any chance?

Donna have you been to High Fashion Down Town Houston? My mother goes there a lot to get fabric for making drapes and such. We also got the satin to make my wedding dress there. I'm not sure how the prices compare, but they have tons of fabrics! Look in the paper for coupons, at least they use to do these.

I have come across EVERYTHING fabric related. One of the "jobbers" as they are called in the industry had 1 warehouse here in Dallas that had over 1,000,000 yrds in stock at that location, and they had 2 or 3 other warehouses.
