This is a discussion on Woo hoo! within the Open Talk forums, part of the General Information category; Got my Google Wave invite! My second shooter is sooo excited about this, so I figure I should be, too!...
I have no clue how to do that, but if you know how, tell me and I will. If not, Todd said email him and he will send it to you. It takes about a week for the invite to go through.
haha, well, im not 100% sure, but it's supposed to be great. im on it right now, its a live chat type thing but you see the letters as they type and you share your projects and calendars on it and they can be update in real time and such, i dont know lol. todd has been waiting for so long for an invite lol, so im excited about it since he is. its the latest thing from google, and they are only giving out a certain number of invites.
Wave is basically collaborative software. You can create projects for one thing and then share that project with others... so say you have 2 photographers working on a wedding... you start a wave and then each of you can see in real time as the other updates where they are in it... It has alot of other cool gadgets that I still need to learn how to use :) like live video chat and all... but one of the nice things about wave is that if you add a third person to a project at a later date... they can play back all of the updates in the order that they came in so they can see how you got to the point you are at...
I want to use it right now by adding a wedding as its booked and then be able to follow its progress thru to completion and both of us be able to see whats done and make sure something doesnt fall thru the cracks.

Hope that helps explain it :)
Thanks Todd. Your description prompted me to sign up.
I got one of Swanny's invites the other day. You will be able to send your own once you get a wave in your inbox with invites to send out, but it isn't immediate. I haven't gotten any yet to send out.
Wave is fun, but a bit messy as a beta. There are some interesting aspects to Wave that would definitely help people in this industry. Wedding planners are going to love it!!! My last two bookings were with techy people that were on Wave and I plan to have private waves going for each of them to facilitate planning and what not.

Keep in mind too that the nature of wave makes it really useful only if you know others on wave. Yes, there are public waves, but they get unruly fast so it's not all comfy like it is in forums. I doubt google will be sending individual invites out anymore because of this. By moving the invites thru people already on wave, it's more likely those brought in will use it.
