I'm REALLY hoping this was a joke and even more that someone was not dumb enough to give away their originals

I am actually very disappointed in many people in these forums.

I never asked for anyone to do 2 photo shoots for FREE. I never stated that someone could not keep the originals. I did ask that I receive the pictures that day unedited!

It is apparent that people have jumped to conclusions, and that is disappointing.

I have received my wedding originals without them being edited, also many companies now will offer you your CD of your session for a price. I have spent 300.00 for my Family Picture Cd's that do not have watermarks or anything like that on them. Studio 1 to 1 and Sears to name 2 of them.

I did not need anyone to edit the pictures as my husband and I are more then capable of doing the editing ourselves. If we want a background changes why the heck can't we do it?

doesn't this count as some type of solicitation that is against the rules??

i don't know if i should unsubscribe from this thread or get some popcorn...still trying to figure out if this is some bored person trying to get everyone riled up or if this is for real. i don't know what to think!!

100% agree. Unfortunately, this seems to be a deep obsession with many photographers. But it's really not justified and a waste of emotional energy. If you really scrutinize the business model of a small photography shop, this is much more of a profit opportunity than it is any kind of a loss. It's an extra product to sell now with no added cost vs. uncertain future income which, if it even comes, will require an outlay for printing and some labor.

Everyone please run your business however you see fit. But it's not your place to put down a buyer looking for a certain product or a business wanting to sell it.

my gripe is that someone can create a profile and come on here soliciting work. i know it can be argued that this sort of happens in one form another...post 1 is asking for work? this person adds nothing to the community. just a taker...that's my gripe.

I was not soliciting anyone! I do NOT have my own business, I do not do photography as a career or anything! I was looking for a photographer to take 2 sets of pictures for my family. I was willing to pay whatever that I would need to pay to have this done!

I have seen posted on this same website, that people are looking for a photographer. So what is the problem? Why can I not simply say that I was looking for a photographer, but I had stipulations in which I needed to be met. And it is obvious that by my stipulations alone...has cause some people to come unglued.

Elan...I am a buyer, and have been hassled because of my needs of a photo shoot. I have come under fire...and now am being accused of solicitation. How it has got to this point, I don't understand.

1b fits the bill.

i think i'm going with the unsubscribe route. this argument with such ignorant people is exhausting.

how does that ignore feature work again?

Well, I was addressing the larger issue here. Btw, how is someone offering to pay for a service a taker? I guess just don't see a the problem you see.

Cool A good gig - 11-08-2009, 09:55 PM

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away a photographer was paid for prints. The photographer's skill and marketablity and therefore price was based on the quality of those prints.

The market has changed. I reckon quality has changed as well.

Get your money up front folks. You won't be selling any prints later on.
