Kids and the Internet Age! - 11-11-2009, 01:05 PM

I do love the internet - always hated spending hours in the library doing research. Now you can find almost anything and quickly. But - why is it that kids believe "communicating" is posting something on Facebook? Important somethings, too - like a baby on the way. I guess it is the same reason why my DIL thought it was ok to copy a pic of her and my son that I took this summer, from my website, remove the copyright and post as her avatar. I told her that all she had to do was ask, I would have provided it and I want the watermark left alone. She said the pic was too big and needed to be cropped - well ask for one. It's been an interesting week.

Debbi,

too funny - I own a condo in So Cal and my son rents it from me. I found out that the water main burst and was flooding the livingroom from an email where my daughter saw it on his facebook page (he posted it but did nothing to stop the flooding).

Yesterday was my birthday, he sent me a text message stating he posted a happy birthday greeting on his Facebook page.

i did ask him if his phone was broken, but he did not get the hint.

oh well, kids - you got to just love them the way they are!

LOL, Steve. That is funny. At least mine tried to call first. I think their phone only works once, if at all.

Speaking of the phone, when it was a new device I wonder if mothers complained that their grown children considered calling them on it a "visit."

Thanks, I think. No biggie. Joyce should be lots of fun for you and Jeff! Can't wait to see the results of the photo shoot.

I like Facebook.

I wish my parents were on Facebook, I might talk to them more. ;-) I talk to my cousins and aunts on a weekly basis - people that, quite honestly, I wouldn't talk to at family reunions otherwise. It's great.

Honestly - I have 2 kids, a deployed husband, a full time job, 2 organizations I volunteer with, women's church group stuff, and lets not forget laundry, dishes, and ...oh yeah...I'm trying to grow a photography business, and maintain the website business that I have already.

My parents, quite honestly, expect me to pack up the kids, and drive to Louisiana to stay with them on the weekends. My older brother, who lives in the Conroe area did it for YEARS with his son. But my brother worked, and went home. He had NO social life....and hanging out in Louisiana drinking beer all day was just his idea of a perfect weekend.

Obviously - there are things you CALL for (like breaking water pipes, sheesh!) and such (new babies) - but most things in my life, like keeping up to date on what's going on with the girls.... is AWESOMe on sites like Facebook.
