Ok, I installed Windows 7 over my XP machine and it didn't wipe it clean like I wanted to so I went into the bios and told it to start from the CD so I could try to format and reinstall Windows 7.

For some reason it reads the DVD drive is there but won't run the install DVD and locks up. So I decided to go back into the bios and set it back to the HD as the first boot disk and it won't let me get into the bios.

Here's the first screen I get:

Here's the second screen I get after hitting delete to get into the bios setup. It freezes here and won't let me get any further. I have disconnnected the DVD drive and still the same problem.

Any ideas on what I can do to get back into the bios and reset the boot drive?

If you have any external usb drives attached to your computer, disconnect them sometimes they may hinder your computer from booting.

Try unplugging the machine from the wall for a few minutes. Replug, start and see if you can now get in..

Thanks guys. I forgot I had my Drobo plugged in via USB. Once I unplugged that it worked like a charm.

I did a clean install on a clean drive and everything is working fine now. I called MSFT and they told me I would have to reinstall XP to use the upgrade to 7. I was able to find a very simple work around that allowed me to install the upgrade version and activate it online without the hassle of reinstalling XP. Let me know if anyone needs these directions.
