C&c

This is a discussion on C&c within the Open Talk forums, part of the General Information category; I decided to cross post this since the website thread doesn't get quite the exposure. I'd really like some feedback ...

I decided to cross post this since the website thread doesn't get quite the exposure. I'd really like some feedback from a great audience before I make it live.

I have taken the plunge to Creative Motion Design (an sponsor here) and so far I really like them.

Please check out my draft site here: http://bailey7097.c3.cmdwebsites.com/ and let me know what you think overall.

Here are a few specific concerns/questions I have.

1. I'm not a big fan of music generally and I'm only considering using the song that is in place now. (I do have licensing in place.) It kind of fits the feel of the site and is a pretty recognizable song in the motorsports world. And, its easy to turn off.

2. I'm not sure whether to use a splash page before going into the flash presentation or not.

A few bits of additional information.

1. I'm not generally a fan of flash sites for SEO reasons but they run an html mirror site that helps with SEO so I'm not too concerned. Also, SEO has changed so much I'm not sure this is really a big concern any longer.

2. The blog page is not setup, so the link will only take you to a place holder.

3 The only gallery that has any image at this point is the Publications gallery, the others will be blank.

Thanks for looking and any feedback.

I would leave the music out completely. I personally have my own music playing while on the computer and dislike sites that have background music.

Transition times are far to slow, it seems to take 4-7 seconds from one page to the next.

That would be my $0.02. :)

Yep, I'd kill the music. At least on page load, and let the visitor choose to turn it on if they want.

Unfortunately, there isn't an option to have it off to start. The only way to have it start without music with the CMD site is to remove it altogether. :(
