"Pho" is a kind of Vietnamese soup. Can anyone who knows the language discuss the pronunciation of "pho?" Because the name of this restaraunt that's about to open is unintentionally a little off in English. (Sorry for the bad photo, I did a drive-by in the car right after picking up some lunch elsewhere).

I'm mainly thinking the hillbillies around here are sadly going to have a field day with the name.

Don't know the language but when around friends, they all call it "FO"....and it's a damn good style of soup. Love the bean sprouts and cooking the raw meat in hot soup brouth.

I did searches online for the pronunciation, too. Although there is intonation involved in the language (as John's audio link suggests), pho still sounds like "fuh."

So I guess Pho King Way is better than no Pho King Way.

Darn it! Now you've got me wanting some soup. I have yet to find a decent Pho Noodle place here in my neck of the woods. Back in San Jose you couldn't hardly drive down the street half a dozen blocks without seeing several. Anyone got a recommendation for one on the North Dallas toll road corridor from Addison to Frisco? And they better stock up on the Sriracha hot sauce!

Found the best in the south bay area...

I live a few minutes north of downtown Fort Worth, where we've got a "Little Vietnam" area with a ton of pho places ... the kind of places those who want a taste of home frequent. I'll probably try Pho King Way out when it opens (it's in Keller and replaced another Vietnamese restaurant).

It's a name that won't be forgotten, that's for sure. Isn't all advertising good advertising in some way? Thanks for posting. I'm glad to have a laugh today.

I know some of the Vietnamese folks will give you a better pronunciation, but after living in Viet Nam, I can tell you it is pronounced "fuh", though that is not exact. There is a diacritical mark on the "o" that affects the pronunciation.

I used to contribute to a blog named "Pho King."

For those of you who have never had a bowl of pho, you're in for a treat. This was my favorite haunt in the city of Hue (pronounced whey) - that's my wife in red sitting across from a former student.

That same student is now a doctoral student at UT-San Antonio. Next Tuesday, I'll drive up to San Antonio to bring him to McAllen for Thanksgiving - and I've already told Tuan we're going to get some pho before we leave SA! I love the stuff!

I've wondered about the "Pho King" idea for a long time. I don't know whether its a language problem - or an intentional attention getter.

Pho soup is awesome! There's a place in Edmond, OK that's called "Pho-bulous" I imagine this is intentional as well, but can be written off as poor English if someone complains.
