For those that followed my earlier post this week, and especially those that shared their stories of their beloved companions, I just wanted to let you know that we let Kosmo be at peace yesterday. I have felt the warmth and love from so many of my friends this week as we struggled to figure out the mysterious and sudden illness. By yesterday, the fever had not broken much, but the blood work revealed significant changes consistent with leukemia. All we can say now is that he didn't seem to feel bad until the very, very end and that, at 14+ he had a great, long, happy life. We were able to be with him and we are so grateful to our compassionate and caring vets, who made our decision easier. Thank you everyone for your comments, thoughts, prayers, support. As I said earlier, dog people are good people.

Very sorry about your loss Lisa. It's very tough to do but sometimes necessary. We had to do go through that a couple of years ago with our 16 yr old Bichon. Hang in there.

Lisa, my heart goes out to you. Like many others, I too have been in your situation. It's always so hard, but we hate to see our furry family members suffer. Sweet picture of Kosmo.

So sorry to hear this news. I have been hoping against hope. With the high fever not going down, I knew it was not good...but still had hope.

There was a really neat thread here and you can find the same thing on Google if you search on "Rainbow Bridge." It is about our pets waiting for us.
I'm glad your pet is no longer suffering, and I hope your heart heals soon. Our pets have such a special place in our hearts, and they never leave.

Lisa, sorry for your loss. We had to put our oldest cat down earlier this week. Tigger was 18+ and in declining health. His running buddy has been wandering around the house trying to find him ever since we took Tigger to the vet last weekend.

Thank you all for your kind comments. Larry, I am so sorry that you and your family were going through the same thing this past week. It is so hard, but honestly, when I saw him on Friday, I knew we were making the right decision. I have to say that my vets could not have been more caring and compassionate and they really helped us through it. As one said, when it comes to end of life issues, we are kinder to our animals than we are to our people. I know we will have another dog and that he/she will never replace Kosmo, who was a funny, quirky and very smart dog, but that our new dog will have a unique place in our lives. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
