Two weeks ago, I was driving back home from the office when I was driven off the road at 59 and Shepard. My Jeep rolled over twice, breaking both axles and shattering every glass surface in the car. I broke the driver's window with a combination of my shoulder and my head, breaking loose a piece of my shoulderblade in the process and giving me a hefty gash on the side of my head. The ceiling of the car had come down a full 2 inches and the doors were all sealed shut.

After the accident, my schizophrenia took over and I was wandering about the road ranting and demanding that people hang up their cell phones. As big a detractor as I am regarding HPD, they handled the situation with a professionalism and respectability that I have not seen paralleled.

Luckily, once I had regained myself, I walked away with no major injuries (although supporting a camera with my left is still difficult) and no one else was hurt.

Anyway, as I've said before, nothing like a brush with death to make you not like death much...

Thanks for the kind words. I, too, am glad that I'm still around. I have also determined that schizophrenics should not be allowed to be in car accidents.

Glad to hear you are okay. I'm also glad to hear that things were handled in a professional way. A lot of times the police will see a disorder such as schizophrenia and assume alcohol or some other drug is involved and treat the victim in a hostile way.

This is what I have always seen before, but this time the officer recognized something was amiss and, rather than focus his attention on me, worked to calm the surrounding people and, once the situation had calmed a little bit, he came over and asked if I was OK, if I needed anything.

Generally people with my disorder are distrusting of authority figures anyway, but he handled the situation very well. It was very refreshing.

Yes hang up those cell phones and no texting in the dallas traffic while it is snowing and we are driving right next to you.
Good to hear you are okay and hope you heal up physically and mentally.
