A disappointing Scam try - 12-07-2009, 09:56 AM

Somehow I thought the scams would get more sophisticated and harder to resist.
Should I send them my Name, Address, Passport info ?? Here's the first paragraph of a long E-mail.

Quote:
Good Day!

I have been waiting for you since to come down here and pick your Cashiers Cheque but did not hear from you since that time. So i went to the bank to confirm if the draft is getting close to expire and the Manager of the bank told me that before the draft will get to your address that it will expire. Then I told him to help me and cash the bank draft of $2.8 million united states dollars to cash payment. However, I have successfully cashed the draft and packaged your Cash in a Cargo box and had registered it in the PARCEL EXPRESS DIPLOMATIC COMPANY here in Benin Republic because I will travel soon to see my boss and will not come back soon.

You have to contact the PARCEL EXPRESS COMPANY to know when they will deliver your package to your address. I have paid for the delivering charges and insurance fees. The only money you have to send to them is their SECURITY KEEPING FEE to receive your package and as i do not know when you will be contacting them.

I am sure that the security holding fee will be next to nothing. And when you open that box. I want to video tape it, so we can see how excited you are to receive all that money.

Well a SECURITY KEEPING FEE is certainly a reasonable request...I don't understand the hesitation, Tom......Ben

You think I should respond to this? The "Re" line mentioned "contingency payout."

25 Queen's Road C,
Hong Kong

Dear Counsel,

My name is Tamara Wilhelm (formely Krupchak). I am from London, England but presently living in Hong Kong. I was married to an American Citizen and we both lived happily in the United Kingdom. After a while my husband suddenly began to act strangely. He started seeing other women and became extremely abusive, physically. He was no longer interested in the marriage, or keeping our marriage vows, so I filed in for divorce. He consented and the divorce procedure was completed in England because that is where we got married. He agreed to pay $650,000 (Six Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars) but till this day he has failed to make the complete payment and he now stays in your area of jurisdiction with his new family. I will like to hire the services of your honorable law firm to claim my payout money. I need your professionalism/experience to resolve this matter, and get my entitlement. You were referred to me by your state bar association

Please kindly get back to me as soon as possible and let me know if you will be able to represent me in your country as he is presently residing there, so that I can provide you with more information.

Your co-operation will be absolutely appreciated.

Best regards,

Ms. Tamara Wilhelm

They say there is one born every minute - so glad it wasn't you. They are about as sophisticated as my cat when he wants dinner (he hits me!). They must think some people are incredibly stupid - oh! wait on, some people are!

I've actually read in our papers here of people who lose huge amounts in these scams. Howe could anybody fall for this? It's so obvious!
