Exclamation Anyone know Santa? - 12-11-2009, 12:11 PM

Weird situation - but I was hopeful someone might know someone with a costume, or someone who does 'Santa' that might be willing to come for 30 minutes or so - Saturday around 12:15pm.

I've coordinated a brunch style Christmas party with the families from my husbands deployed unit with Second Baptist church. Second is providing food/entertainment (Second Baptist has their Kids Crazy Christmas thing, so it'll be a riot) and gifts for the kids. The gifts are being given out as a 'game' - so Santa isn't bringing presents.

I didn't think 'no santa' would be a big deal - he hangs out at the mall, and every darn store in the city....but apparently 'no Santa' is a BIG deal.

He's (hopefully) gonna stop by and hand out candy canes/candy for the kids...and hang out for a few photos...

My contact at the church is trying to see if they can arrange something - but she said that they might not be able to.

So I'm putting out the SOS to see if anyone knows someone, etc.

You could try Real Santa Jim. He is out of Cypress. He is probably pretty booked, but it's worth a shot? Hope this helps!

My dad and step mom do this. They have a lovely hand-made antique Santa suit - but they live in Oklahoma...

You may call a few nearby fire depts...???...our local FD parades Santa around each Christmas seasion - in fact they did so last weekend. I guess my point is if you can find one that did something like this, maybe the same guy could help you out...

One of my AMAZING photographers with NILMDTS has a Santa suit that I'm going to borrow - now I've got to find a Santa to wear it. ;-)

I have seen Santa for real!!

About 20 years ago now when I lived in dallas, Mesquite actually, my x had a Girl Scout Troup. One of the girls had the last name of Clause. Her fathers first name was Santa. I swear!

He had the build and the beard and personality.

He got stopped for doing a few miles over the speed limit and when the Cop looked at his divers license he refused to give him a ticket. He "was not going to give Santa Clause a citation. His kids would never forgive him"

True story!! They had an article in the Mesquite paper about that incident.

Good luck on finding a Santa.

That's great that the church and you are doing this. . . I'd volunteer my husband to wear the suit if I didn't think he'd kill me! That and he's taking my little sister to Bandera today to pick up her car that broke down when she was there last weekend. . . something I volunteered him for also. . . do you see a pattern?

Let me know how it goes!

We found a wonderful 15 year old young man - his name is Matthew - to volunteer to dress up as Santa. He had a blast!!!
