the peak of this meteor shower should be this Sunday night. I live in Fort Worth. any ideas about where to go and view this thing away from the city lights about an hour or so away...that is if it's a clear night.

Why is it always on a night where everyone has to get up relatively early the next morning? And it always peaks like at 4 a.m. WHo's up at that hour!? Stupid Nature!

I would suppose that just about anywhere into the country that you could drive for an hour or so would provide good viewing. I recently drove from Plano to Roswell, New Mexico, by way of Highway 82. I was impressed by the great number of stars that I could see when I stopped around Benjamin.

And, BTW, I have to fight to get to bed before 3 a.m. I just don't sleep well if I go to bed any later, but I do it too often.

Bill Cook reported from NASA’s Meteoroid Environment Office that the sky will stay dark, and most of the meteor activity will take place somewhere around 12:10 a.m. EST.
I am truly amazed that it is reported from NASA that at 12:10 a.m. ( 1:10am cst) that the sky will stay dark. How would we know such things without bone shaking reports like this ?

try lake grapevine. I remember someone on the forum shot some star trails at one point out at lake grapevine. I may try to head in that direction myself.

I went to check out the Perseid shower in April, and the moon was up and bright pretty much the whole night so we hardly got to see anything. There is a new moon on Dec 16, so there wont be much moon light. I think that's what he is referring to.....

I hope the weather clears for this one!!! Not looking good tho.
