Digital Photo Alliance - 12-11-2009, 10:09 PM

Someone that I met while shooting a football game earlier this year just asked me if I might be interested in joining the Austin area group by the above name... Digital Photo Alliance. I was wondering if anyone here has worked with that group as either photographer or customer and what your thoughts were.

I am a bit hesitant due to the membership fee and the closed meetings, but the possible upside of the additional photography events make it intriguing at the same time. And it doesn't "smell" like a shady operation - I'm just curious.

I've been to one meeting in Austin and have assisted a couple of photographers through there (before the fee was introduced). I couldn't afford to pay the fee so I drifted away after awhile. Just tried to log in again and my account is suspended. *shrugs*

I would consider the membership fee part of my marketing budget for the year... if it is worth it etc. So I don't have a problem with the fee per se - if they are providing a valuable service worth the fee to the photographer.

Also trying to get a take on the group itself... thanks for the thoughts though!
