That is insane.

I'm assuming it's only cosmetic?
Interesting video.

Yeah, vehicle wraps are becoming hotter and hotter. These guys are so pro. They make it look so easy, but believe me, it's way harder than it seems. Not getting wrinkles is the tough part. However they were fortunate not to have a digital print on the vinyl, so they could stretch it as much as they need without ruining the print.
They have special schools you can go to to learn how to do that. Feller's hosts some classes.
And yeah, it can be removed fairly easily. There may be some residue left behind, but that's easily removed as well, leaving the paint in tact.

But why?
Seems like if I was going to shell out six digits for a car, I'd buy it in the color I wanted??
Perhaps I'm just odd and poor. ;)

It's mostly used for advertising...Way cheaper (and less permanent) than paint......Ben

........looks like crap up close especially if you drive it and it gets nicks in it, and a good wrap will cost you close to what paint costs.

I laugh at all the import and exotic owners who wrap there cars flat black to be like a hotrod, but hey to each there own......... nice red door jambs you have there with your flat black sticker

My fiancee does that for a living. he is a graphic designer for a company that builds police cars, emt, fire engines, home land security, fbi ect. usually if he does a wrap it is with graphics on the vinyal. I was showing him the video as well as sams response and he totally agreed about the pain in the a$$, It DOES come out cheaper then a paint job in the long run but to me a paint job looks better then a wrap.

Well, if you're using complex graphics with photo-quality digital prints, then it is cheaper and faster than having someone airbrush the entire vehicle. But yeah, wraps in general aren't cheap. That would be a sweet gig to do all the government vehicles. Nice steady work :)

he loves his job. he gets to see all kinds of interesting things! heheh there are a lot of times that police departments will bring in their own graphics and all he is doing is printing them and sticking them, there are other times they give him free reign to design whatever he wants to design. thats the part about his job he really loves is the free reign part. he got to design the city of arlington's new PD cars which are amazing compaired to what they used to be. but then there are times that a PD comes to him to redesign their cars and they bring their own crappy graphics and he is almost embarrased to be associated with them, like the dallas PD.

So if you've got vinyl graphics, you can't stretch them, right? I've never done anything like that but it looks very difficult.
