Stovall,
His accomplishments as a photographer have not in any way shape or form been called into question. He is unquestioned one of the living great image makers of our time.
Are you insinuating that because he is famous and accomplished, and awarded a very vaunted prize that he should now be allowed to have everyone do his work for free?
I guess he could be calling it a workshop and charge a 20 or 30 thousand dollars for the opportunity.

Nevermind -- I'll take care of it myself!

Using your analogy however, since he lives in NY and has a business there, as I do, I will comment on his NY business practices and you can withhold your comments on anything I write regarding his offer as I am betting:
A. You do not currently live in NY
and
B. You do not currently operate a NY based business.
and that is what I am basing my opinions on, his business practices as seen from one NY photography business owner to another. And for that I don't think I need a TED. Nice try though John, I know you dig the Nachtwey and can hear of nothing negative about him...

I have no problem with someone offering a unpaid internship, but if the "internship" is to just find a free employee, it's not right. An internship should offer a learning experience that benefits both parties. If you are looking for someone with a specific skill set to work in an office only using that skill set and not being able to expand their photographic skills, then that doesn't sound like an intern, but support staff. I didn't see anywhere in the posting where it said the person would be assisting with photography but it asks for a student pursuing a photography degree.
