Yeah, there's a thread on sportsshooter about this as well. IMO he isn't looking for an intern, he's looking for some free photoshop/scanning work (advanced skills, etc in the listing) with not a whole lot in return other than to say you worked for his studio (maybe not even with JN). And reading through the blog comments it seems most of the rest of the folks agree. Weak IMO

at least it's not an internship on Letterman -- he's not asking to sleep with you!

There are plenty of unpaid internships out there. No reason to target Nachtwey because of his professional status.

Please, qualified applicants only! We are a small operation with an enormous workflow and no time can be wasted
| It looks like he is wanting an employee, not someone looking for a learning opportunity.
What happens if you decide to ask a question? No time can be wasted?????

This isn't targeting JN and the fact it's an unpaid internship, it's the fact they are basically recruiting an unpaid worker who wants to be able to put JN's studio on his "worked with" list. Nothing wrong with that either, it's more or less still a free country, but spare us the "internship" sell. This isn't about getting a start in the mail room or something like that and learning what it's like, because according to the requirements you need a heck of a lot more than entry level skills just to get your resume on the table.
No doubt they will find someone though...

Being a student i should add, i dont care if its unpaid. And yes i'm 100% sure Nachtwey could pay a reasonable wage for this position.
For me, thats not the point at all. Sucks that some people are so quick to find fault.
Yea he wants a free employee. Big deal I'd rather do something i love for free than be paid well to live in a cube and hate my job and life.

I am not trying to be quick to find fault, I really am not, it just seems that the position as advertised will have very little contact with anything but a computer screen?

This really just sounds to me like he's prostituting a well-developed reputation for the sake of some freebies... "I'm famous, so you ought to just be proud to be associated with me"..

I won't knock the guys work or his accomplishments. I won't speculate on his motives for wanting an intern. I will say that what I've seen of him he seems like kind of an odd fellow. A little too quiet. Maybe I just took him the wrong way.
