Pretty sweet. And I thought my 30 photo stitches were big...

I can't help but think "so what". Setting aside the high resolution for a second, if this were a 20mp image, would anybody care? Is it actually a good photograph? I've never really understood the appeal of these 180-degree FOV stitches taken from a rooftop (or anywhere else, really). They're almost never well-composed photographs, just visual gimmicks.

I'm as big of a resolution junkie as the next guy (just ask anybody who knows me), and I love to shoot panos. But to me these multi-gigapixel images mostly seem to be examples of measurebators losing sight of the forest for the pixels.

(Don't take this personally Nick, it isn't directed at you; it's just something that's been bugging me for a while, and your thread happened to be a convenient soap box to step up on).

I love the comment under the story: "sorry, I've done bigger"....

I guess that's what happens when you've just got too much time on your hands: there's always somebody that has more...
