Excellent, that $300 mil went onto the screen since actors costs were not rediculious.

You have to set through the credits, I bet there were close to a 1000 people listed!

Some War, Some Love, Some Hate, and a few things to think about.

Didn't get to see it in 3-D and heard that 3-D kicks it up a few notches, then there is the IMAX 3-D which probably would melt a few brain cellls in this old head.

Usually don't go to opening weekend shows but went for the first show at Northpark today and I bet the theatre was only 10% full, so not sure if that indicates that people would rather shop than see a movie-this was 11:30 am showing.

So Rotten Tomato gives it like an 85 or so out of 100 and I say it is that high or a bit more. Gonna take a lot of rear ends to get the money back that went into this though but it will sell a lot of DVD's in 6 months.

I saw it yesterday in 2D and I can honestly say without a doubt that it was the most amazing movie I have ever seen.

Sorry, I get tired of poor downtrodden natives, somehow defeat the EVIL Terrans/Americans with sticks and rocks to save Gaea. I want to be entertained, not preached at how evil my lifestyle is compared to the noble savages...

Hey MOTHER NATURE is not a force to be messed with, I guess you caught the comments about how Earth had been trashed already towards the end.

3-D IMAX I bet is just plain crazy!

I think he should have pushed it another 30 minutes longer, just drop a 10 minute break in the middle, and people wouldn't mind paying more.

Wonder how many APPLE Cinemas Displays that he used in this?

Some of the best CGI that I have seen, even tops Disitrict 9 which had some great CGI.

Talking about a movie preaching to the audience District 9 does in spades.

Also heard that the new Musical 9 is based on Frederico Fellini's Life, so that is now on my list.

I went with a date to see it in 3-D-AWESOME EFFECTS!
I could do without the preachiness, though...

I didn't find it preachy at all.
Is american history bringing out the guilty feelings? lol

It's obvious they were recreating the whole native american fiasco and it was obvious earthlings had already destroyed their own planet and were now destroying another.
It's not preaching, it's just the truth. And sometimes the truth hurts.

And that's not all their was.
You had the love story, the story about a guy overcoming his own handicaps, the story about everything being connected by a common energy, the story about how different cultures can learn from each other, the story about fighting for what you believe in no matter what... lots of good stuff going on in a 2.5hr movie.

I saw it in 3D and quickly lost sight of that. It just seemed to be natural as I looked at it. Good effects if they seem natural.
It was a good movie, a love story, a little preachy, and a little long. The natives were very much in harmony with their environment because they never had to move on unlike American indians did regularly.
At times it seemed a little slow, but there is nothing that I would take out of it, and I would recommend that anyone else able to suspend reality for a few hours go see it, too.

From the standpoint of maybe this is the first of it's kind, I suppose I should see it in a theater. Before a zillion knockoff clones ruin the original concept.

Or dig through my DVDs and watch a few real movies sans CGI.

I saw it in IMAX 3D... which is the first time I've watched a non-documentary movie at the IMAX... and is also my first 3D.
I'm going back to see it at least 2 more times in IMAX 3D... it was that good.
And you can ask my wife, I have NEVER seen a movie more than once in the theater.

Zenchka,
I agree with you on why you should go, and that is in part why I went.
For pre CGI, try Humphrey Bogart in B&W, or Beau Geste. If you want to see a historically accurate movie, try 'The Great Locomotive Chase' by Walt Disney.

I have to agree, my wife and I saw it Saturday in 2D and I am already planning on seeing it again in 3D ASAP. I too have not seen a movie twice in theaters (well, since the original Star Wars, does that date me? LOL!) As a matter of fact, I very rarely go to theaters at all, maybe an average of once a year, or once every two years. This one was well worth the trip.
