I didnt want to post this under the wedding thread because it isnt wedding photography related......
I need HELP! I have a friend who is on a TIGHT budget. She is getting married in Sept of 2010. she is wanting an outdoor wedding & reception in the evening. I found a place that is 1500 for 6 hours wedding and reception. she is hinting to me that is too rich for their blood. ugh! So i guess does anyone know of any outdoor wedding venues in the general DFW are that wont break the bank for them? im thinking they are probably wanting to stay wround the 500 dollar mark. i know this is a shot in the dark but i thought I would ask. they arent wanting anything extravagant.......some place they can decorate, outdoors probably under a gazeebo that they can possibly have candle light as well as host a reception for maybe 50 to 100 ppl? Im trying to talk her into the 1500 dollar location because they offer the chairs, tables, 6 hrs of use, the food, the drinks, the service, everything but the bridal party and the officiant.

Cynthia, You might have her check with the Dallas Parks Dept. They have a Large open (covered) pavillon on Flag Pole Hill that rents in three hour blocks for a couple of $100 per block, It has picnic tables and power is availible otherwise anything else you need you provide. Also there are some strict rules for alcohol at the city parks, seperate permit, have to hire an off duty DPD officer for security

Not sure what it rents for but some really bohemian friends of mine had a cool wedding at some rock house on White Rock Lake.. It could not have cost much because they do not have it. Pretty sure it belongs to the Dallas Parks Dept.

Old City Park close to downtown used to have a fairly nice raised gazebo area and room for as many guests as you need although you'd have to contact the city or the Parks Dept. to get specifics.
I haven't been down there in a while but I recall that it was pretty nice, had to be reserved ahead of time but was quite cheap price wise.

It can't be too expensive.

I just did an awesome photo shoot at Old City Park. They have a gazebo and a ton of beautiful old style houses, an old style church and a main street and such. Could be an interesting place for a wedding. We did a vintage shoot there. I think they may charge a bit much though. I know the photo shoot we did there was not exactly cheap (not expensive, but not cheap). Here's a link with some general info: http://www.gatheringguide.com/event_...enue_3220.html and one more http://www.oldcitypark.org/Weddings.aspx. So, looking at the prices, it is expensive.

Dallas Parks Dept has like 3 or 4 places at and around White Rock Lake, with this much lead time she should be able to get one. They range from Winfrey point which is a 1940's period building to just covered areas. Then you also have the building at Lee Park and I think that they even have one or two others around the city, the Lee Park would be the most expensive location and then yiu do have the Old City Park location which has several options.
She may also want to call other cities parks dept's and see what they can offer.
Not sure what the Arboreutum would charge but you could just call or maybe check their website, along with the various city websites.

Collin County owns a venue called Myers Park. It may be out of the way for them since it's in McKinney, and I have NO idea what they charge, you'll have to call and find out. The website might have some info, tho: Welcome to Collin County, Texas Online. If the info's not there, I know the County's phone numbers are listed on the site. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
