Im actually looking into that school. Isn't it in Dallas this year at the International Hotel? Just wondering if you knew if it was expensive to stay there.

It is expensive staying there especially when just for a shower and a few hours sleep.

There are special rates at the hotel for Texas School attendees.. not cheap, by any means, of course.. but it is a special rate.
There are also a few hotels nearby that might give you a better rate.. but there's a lot to be said for staying at the event hotel - you catch a lot of the spontaneous stuff that way.

I don't know where Texas School is, or if this is of any help to you, but I have room available. I'm looking for a roommate. I would prefer to rent out to models and photographers (especially, well, you know...). Right now, I'm living alone in a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom house. It's a mess, I'm a bad housekeeper, and I'm still moving boxes around. I have no furniture. Still, I can offer you a cheap rate for a week or whatever.

I kid, I kid!

I kid, I kid! | That's true, but you might be surprised that I don't have any window curtains, either.
(Don't worry; the bedrooms do have horizontal venetian blinds.)

I used to stay off site to save a few bucks myself.
First, I didn't realize how little I was saving. TxSchool always get good rates if you reserve a room in time and sometimes I was only saving $8 a night.
Then I didn't realize how much that was costing me in my craft. You will be surprised how much you will learn by hanging with other photographers 18 hours a day for a week. There have been schools I have spent another 8 hours with the instructor and maybe 5 or 6 people in their room late into the night. You learn about so many different things.
You HAVE to think of TxSchool as a WEEK of learning not just some daytime classes to attend.

Priceline is your friend. ;-)
Biddingfortravel.com is the first cousin of your friend. ;-)
We stayed just down the road - for $50 something/night at the Hilton...or Holiday Inn.... it was a seriously sweet hotel.... cost us (myself and Joanne) about $30/each per night for a 3 star hotel.
