Yep, winter is coming to Texas. Come on up to the DFW area Ken, the forecast is not to even reach freezing on Thursday or Friday (with a wind chill factor into the low teens and single digits on Thursday).

I have to drive from Houston to San Antonio and back on Thursday, not looking forward to it, especially if the roads ice. I-10 is already crappy enough.

you Texans are so funny. I grew up in Colorado, I remember one week in December that the high temperature did not even reach zero. I'm not talking 32 degrees, freezing point of water in case you were all wondering, but zero, and that was the high for the WEEK. Do you want to know what the low temperature was that week?!? It was -40. Yes, 40 degrees below zero. Now that is cold. It makes me laugh when it reaches 50 degrees down here and I see people walking around in parkas. LOL. Here's my definition of cold: When you inhale thru your nose and your boogers freeze, then you know it's cold. Feel like we are in Canada, give me a break. LOL!!!

Just wait you will aclimatize, I grew up on the plains of Kansas, where the wind doesnt stop blowing. I have lived in Texas for 20+ years now I'm cold when it gets to 40. I threw away the carharts and the snow shovel years ago. I drug it around for 10 years saying Oh Ill use it some time. Well maybe this year.

You know what? I love cold weather. It's awesome.
However, I friggin HATE wrapping up my plants in a sheets. I think I'd rather let them die.

Say it may be the coldest for DFW in 15 years and I would not be surprised if some outlying cities in the DFW area don't go single digits but it at least is supposed to be DRY!
So wrap the pipes, grab the blanket (btw sleeping bags are excellent insulators), pop some popcorn and slug back a couple shots of good rum!
Oh and do not try to heat up Modern DP as a hot drink, it sucks-if you do want hot Dr Pepper buy some of the Dublin DP and heat it up. (ignore the current advertising campaign by DP to enjoy it hot). | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
