Funny thing is We traveled to vegas jan 6th thru the 12th and NOTHING has changed....or at least not on southwest airlines. the whole bit about nothing in your lap the first hour or last hour of the flight, no standing to pee, ect.....southwest didnt do anything like that. their only real rule was no forming a line at the bathroom. other then that is was bau.
I traveled with a backpack that would fit in the overhead. i took my lensbaby, my 24-70 and my 70-200 with my 5D body and a flash and had NO issues at all other then when we sat at the front of the plane in the emergency isle, we couldnt have bags under our seats since it was an emergency isle. we had to put it in the overhead.

On 12-26-09, we left Houston, for Russia. Nothing changed from previous trips, regarding carry-ons, or anything else for that matter. On the way back, on 1-5, we were told, 45 minutes out, no one could get up for last hour. Searches in the US and Russia were the same as before. Nothing new, other than stay in your seat at the end.
... To add... my 7 y.o. granddaughter had her new quilt on her the whole time.

I had a full winter-grade jacket on my lap the whole time on my way back from Vegas, and i've seen many did the same thing. No problems there with US Airways.

Reichmann added an update to include the new insane Canadian flight rules.
