Looking for old country store - 01-17-2010, 08:53 PM

TPFers know everything. Lets see if you can work on this one.

I am looking for an old general store in the North Central Texas area. Something between a depression era to say 1950's. It may have current items for sale but the decor needs to be like it was 50-60-70 years ago. It can be in a city area, small town, or alone by itself. It also can be connected to a gas station. It can be very run down or in rather good shape.

I am NOT looking for a re-creation of an old store like Cracker Barrel. Or an old store that looks like it is a old Western store like is in Dallas Old City Park.

Anyone know of such a place?

There is the old Minyards Store in Coppell. It is near their Food Warehouse.

In Cooper they have an old drugstore/soda fountain. It looks stuck in time. Not really update but they still run the soda fountain. There are alot of cool buildings and the old hotel is there. They are really friendly and welcome you.

Saint Jo, on Highway 82 west of Muenster (which is west of Gainesville) has a small downtown area that is quite authentic and run down. Last time I was by there, the buildings were occupied but just barely.
