I don't really understand the whole "Fan" thing. I don't *fan* anyone or any company. So don't feel offended if I don't... it's sort of like that saying, "I'm not racist... I hate everyone". Maybe I just don't get why I would want to be a *fan*. What does that do for me... and for you for that matter?

When you "fan" someone's fan page, it shows up on your wall for your friends to see. Then they check it out and hopefully become a fan and/or client. Then it shows up on their wall, and their friends check it out. Etc... Sort of like word-of-mouth marketing.

JohnT is absolutely right. It's referred to as viral marketing. I certainly don't feel offended.
