How many of y'all take your camera with you wherever you go?
The mall, the grocery store, restaurants... wherever?
I wonder because I know that there are occasions where I see something and I think to myself that I wish I had my camera with me.
But then again on the flip side, a D2X isn't exactly something that can be stuck in my pocket, not to mention that I would NEVER leave it in the car when going in somewhere. No matter how quickly I would be back. Then slap a zoom lens on there, and you're talking a lot of camera to carry around...

So... do you always keep your camera with you?
If so, what camera lens combo do you keep with you?

Nope. I need to get away from the lens, too. I always carried a camera/lens with me until I became a full time pro.

I do not. If I see something amusing, I'll shoot an iphone pic and share it on facebook. If I'm carrying the big guns, I'm almost always getting paid to do so.

It's funny, because as a photo assistant years ago, I used to wonder why the pro photogs didn't shoot much on their days off. I guess I found out why.

Nope. I never take my camera unless I'm planning on using it.

And I have no use for mediocre images that are taken with a P&S so there is no point in me carrying one.

When I was trying to learn my craft in the beginning, I always carried my camera. Practice, practice, practice!

Not so much these days. Although, I do have my iPhone and I plan on buying a pocket size P&S to carry in the car...just in case.

I bought a WX1 to carry around all the time, and it ended up in the wife's purse. Doesn't do me much good there.

I don't always have one with me, but I'll often carry my XTi + 28 f/2.8 (small camera, small lens) if I'm just wandering around, and feel like there will be something interesting to take photos of. Better quality than a p 'n s, and I already own it. I've thought about buying a G10 or something, but can't justify the cost.

Entry DSLR and small prime all the way!

But if I had a walk-around lens I'd want a telephoto, maybe a macro. I tried it for awhile but wasn't shooting as much as I was ensuring I was keeping up with it. In a restaurant I don't want it on the table in spill or knockdown range, won't put it on the floor, don't want it in the car in July...

iPhone has a camera so if it is something I want to go back to really geared up, I can. And I know a lot of people preach to always have it, but I don't. I usually have at least one, but not my DSLR.

I would tend to agree that the logistics of hauling a DSLR, even if only with a 35mm lens, around everywhere would soon become like a ball-n-chain.

I use the camera on the iPhone more for taking shots of price tags of items I'm looking into purchasing...you know, see something in a store somewhere then research the details at home before committing to purchase. Like the LCD TV I'm still contemplating.

My only P&S is stowed in my tank bag on the motorcycle for taking trip journal pics. Sometimes I take shots while on the move and you can't really do that with a full size DSLR.

All my equipment stays home except for when I'm going out for a shoot.
I do have an iPhone, but must confess that instead of grabbing for it I'd probably say to myself "bummer, wish I had my camera with me!!!".

I used to keep my camera with me all the time....keys, phone, and camera in that order. Now I have a little p/s that I keep in my truck for those unplanned moments that I want to shoot.

Sometimes I want to just enjoy life instead of taking photos of it! So usually I'm hauling my gear only when I'm getting paid or to a special (typically family oriented) event.

I carry my iPhone with me and use it for photos often. Almost every day, actually. I have no practical use for these photos, they just pile up on the phone. But it gives me great joy to just capture images, even if nobody but me ever sees them. The iPhone keeps the photographer within me awake and alert at all times, and has made me a better photographer as a result. It's my equivalent of carrying the camera all the time, no so much to take good pictures, but to be a photographer all the time without the need for gear.
