Was serving felony warrants yesterday. My philosophy is you never need a shotgun until you need it really badly, so always have a shotgun handy (with slugs). After the guy was arrested on multiple felony warrants, he was griping to the warrant guys who transported him about me: "That fat old white guy with the shotgun was an @sshole!" I think that will be something I treasure. I really pissed him off after I told him that he was not going to be able to post bond on his traffic tickets because of the 1st degree drug warrant, and the minor issue of the Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (1st degree felony) warrant which put his bond right around $200,000.00.

Paul, I truly enjoy the banter back and forth on many of these threads. Doesn't bother me one bit how much or how little anyone posts. I am free to be selective about what I read and what I respond to and so is everyone else - the beauty of the system. I was just making a little fun of the other thread.

Post Padding! I didn't even read the other thread. What other thread?
I am glad that you are out there upholding the honor for all of us fat old white guys. I don't even have a shotgun. I'm glad that you do.
Be safe. Be mean to those who earn it.

How big do your eggs have to be to call the "guy with the shotgun" fat and old and an a-hole!
That kinda cracked me up.
Think how pissed he would have been had you told him the normal bond amount for the traffic tickets and then he finds out after he gets friends/family gathered up with that that he can't bond out. I think you were doing him a favor. The nerve of some people -- don't know when to be grateful

Nevermind -- I'll take care of it myself!

funny thing about shotguns. not as pretty and uber-modern like a lot of firearms these days, but when I was in the Corps they had some old remington 870 pumps with the extended magazine tube. for close in stuff, i'd take the 12 over an m16, any day. :-)

Murph - We've only met once, and it's been a long time. But I don't remember you as a "fat white guy".
Of course, if you would have had a shotgun in your hands instead of that Nikon, I might remember it differently... :)

I prefer to start off with magnum buck, then have a couple slugs at the back of the mag for the (very few) things that can stand up to buckshot from close range.
Then again, one of my favorite discoveries about the Mossberg 835 and 3.5" 00 magnum loads is that they will put four of the pellets on an IDPA target at 100yds, and still have enough force to bury the pellets in a 2x4.

He just carries a .45-70 in the trunk loaded with Barnes 500gr banded copper solids. Before he got the Barnes bullets it was plain old hardcast. Either will do the job just fine.

On the off chance that you need to stop something else before you get to the door, they should do that pretty well too. Think of it as a really huge Glaser Safety Slug.
