PJ Photo Ops Sunday and Monday

Ok, let's don't turn this into a religious or political discussion and I debated on whether or not to post this, but in the spirit of a free press I thought I would. One side of me hates to give groups like this any press but another side says they need to be exposed for what they are (I know, I'm not neutral).

At church tonight we were told that we would be the target of protestors this weekend and the leadership didn't really know why. I researched who was going to protest us and found it is going to be the Westboro Baptist "Church". If you haven't heard of them, Wikipedia or Google them and you'll find all you need to know. They frequently show up at funerals of fallen soldiers to tell their families that God hates them and they are going to hell.

They will be protesting all over the metroplex tomorrow at churches and Monday at high schools, so if one of the locations happens to be close you may want the photo op.

You did good to post this up. People need to know if for nothing else the PJ opportunity.

It is hard to not type what really want to about the "group" of humans, so I will just follow the rule that my Grand Parents taught me. "say nothing if you can't say it nicely".

I've been wanting to shoot them for years. I almost planned a trip to Washington, DC to shoot one of their marches. Not because I believe in their message, but because I have a photo project that relates to them. I'll probably go to the ross ave one at 12:45... Thanks!

I checked the schedule, and among all the other things to hate, it turns out they are going to a Dallas Stars game because "God H8s Ur hockey!"

Yes, the hockey protest hit me as strange too. Maybe the hockey fans will treat them differently than the other protestees!

Oh Lord! Folks I live in Whitesboro, Texas which is in no way affiliated with Whitesboro Baptist Chruch. Those folks are from Kansas. When I first read the name for WBC my head nearly came un-screwed. Please don't confuse the two.

I went. It was so sad to see the protesters. It was an older man, a middle age man, a middle age woman and four children age 12 and under. Even the children were holding hate signs.

I walked right past a little 4 or 5 yr old girl with the sign that read "God Hates Fags"... I was too shocked to take a picture and just shook my head and went into the arena... Pretty pathetic regardless of your beliefs.

BTW: They were just outside of the media entrance.. Convenient.

Funny that they skipped Cathedral of Hope. I was rather looking forward to the stories from some of the folks there.
