Wal-Mart actually carries what's called "Dublin Dr Pepper," which contains Imperial Sugar rather than that high-fructose corn syrup mess. It tastes great!

Yeah, I know. Our son had 300 bottles of it at his wedding reception in Dallas last summer and by the time the wedding party got back from pictures, it was all gone! :( We also can't find it here in Oklahoma. Something about Coca Cola bottling it instead of Pepsi.

Would be nice if it was less than the $6.00 for a 6 pack of 10 oz Dublins, corn syrup isn't really that much cheaper than suGar riGht now so it won't cost them that much to make it.

BTW the SuGar version is GREAT HOT, don't try it with the corn syrup junk, thouGh I love DP.

Used to be that the only places that you could Get Dublin DP was in Dublin and the Museum in Waco, somethinG about distribution areas, but that has been resolved. The canned version was actually done in Temple, wonder if they are the plant doinG the HeritaGe?

I agree. The price is the only reason I don't buy it all the time.

The distribution of Dublin DP was never "resolved". You still can't buy/sell it through the Dallas DP distributor, because of the distribution rules. Instead, the Dallas bottler saw the high demand for Dublin DP and started making the recipe here, too. That's why the Dallas bottles don't actually say the word Dublin on them, like the real Dublin DP's do.

I probably didn't explain that clearly, so sorry if it is hard to follow. Basically, the Dallas bottles are Dublin-style, but cooked and bottled at the Dallas plant. They have real sugar like the Dublin DP's, but never set foot in Dublin. Tastes the same to me either way, and Sam's Club is the cheapest place in Big D to buy the Dublin-style drinks right now. A case works out to be about $5.19 per six bottle pack.

I gave up sugar drinks (except maybe if there was rum in there) around 15 years ago and have had no cavities since then. I gave up diet drinks last year due to a sudden case of acid reflux and I've lost 10 pounds since then (apparently you do gain weight from zero calorie soft drinks)...sooo I'll take your words for how it tastes :)

That's the right way to live. I didn't drink a coke/soda/carbonated beverage from age 18 to 30... actually, maybe one or two a year. Then, I started back up and it is a hard habit to kick. The last few years have been a coke/dp/sprite/root beer almost every day. I want to stop and will continue to try my best.

Do whatever you like with the soda pop, but keep your hands OFF my coffee.

I don't know what it is about Dr Pepper but for 60+ years now any time I drink the stuff, it makes me nauseated. Even Mr. Pibb, Coke’s knock off of DP, makes me sick. None of the other soft drinks I’ve tried do me that way. I’ve never heard of anyone else having that problem. Must be more of my weirdness. Most of my family loves the nasty stuff.

I gave up coke's (southern version meaning all carbonated sodas).... and then last Monday, gave up coffee.

It's amazing how awesome I feel...

Brad drinks DP's though - I may pick up some of these to mail to him... they apparently only get canned DP's there - and he hates those...

Caffeine blocks the adenosine receptors and prevents our brains from receiving our natural sedation chemicals, and I agree after quitting all soft drinks I feel better and more relaxed (not tired). It's alot easier for me to fall asleep as well.

I wish they would go back to pure cane sugar in all sodas. High fructose corn syrup is just plain bad for you, and doesn't taste as good besides.

I often buy the so called "mexican cokes" just for this reason. Although you have to check the ingredients - sometimes now they have don't have sugar in them either...

We got some of the throwback Pepsi last week. You can really tell a difference in the Pepsi versions.
