I have a 6-20 variable power scope on my deer rifle.

If I were to come up with an adaptor to connect my camera lens to this scope could I take high magnification/long distance photos? If yes what all would I need to do and does someone have a link to a site that covers this.

I don't think you would find anything that would work for a rifle scope, but you could sure find some adapters for telescopes!

I think I remember seeing it being done in the early days of digital cameras. IIRC you basically have to be able to focus on the scope glass like taking a macro image, since the scope is not part of your camera's lense system. I could easily be wrong about this, so do some Googleing.

Then, there's those pesky cross-hairs!

I sold a few camera-scopes (can't recall the manufacturer) that used recoil to operate the shutter...The theory was that the image was captured at the instant of firing the rifle but just before the animal was hit...The results I saw were pretty poor and I didn't sell many...Ben

Scope/Camera - 02-04-2010, 05:12 PM

I have taken many shots through a 3x9x50mm scope on many occasions but not with DSLR's. I use whatever zoom point and shoot that I have in my pack at the time and I dont use an adaptor. I place the camera lens on the back of the scope and wrap my hand around it as a coupler. As you can see from the attached examples it can cause a partial blackout if you move before snapping the shutter. The blackout is visible through the viewfinder of the camera. Just to be safe I always make sure the bolt is open on my rifle.

Hope this helps.

I think the starting point for attaching any device would be a T mount adapter for the camera.
