.... Have any of you read it? What did you think? I liked it and I have more respect for Joe as a photographer after reading it because I have more respect for Him as a Father.

Yeah, I liked it. It is more a book about inspiration than about teaching. Joe is a great guy.

In his Redshoe Diaries, he's a lot more instructional, but I love reading Joe's books and watching any kind of video he puts out. I have to take everything he does with a grain of salt though because he's the first person to admit that what he does isn't always the "right" way and he does get paid by Nikon to promote a lot of their equipment so just because he put 17 SB-800's on a boom to do a high speed sync shoot and decided to go to the desert doesn't mean I should.

Although He does not spoon feed you I did find it to be very informational because He explains his lighting situation and his thought process. It really opened my eyes and changed my thought process for analyzing the lighting.

I like both books because they are not spoon fed. He emphasizes the inspiration and motivation and creativity behind the images as much as the technical aspects.

SInce there are some similarities between the Nikon CLS and Olympus's remote flash system, I find him inspirational. Of course some of the stuff is kind of ridiculous like the desert shoot (17 flashes at $400 a pop), but they demonstrate the product. I find a lot his stories amusing though.

Well yeah he's not going to tell you "now put your camera on f/5.6 and 1/6 and remember to use the rule of thirds", but he goes in detail about rear sync flash and other things. In his Nikon CLS school DVD it's more spoon fed.
