Once the half was over, the missed call on the onside kick recovery hurt. Kendra's husband, Hank Baskett recovered that thing and was clearly visible, and then the two point conversion. They had to put it in slow motion in order for him to be considered "in possession" of the ball. If it is in real time there is no way that is considered possession. | NFL Videos: Super Bowl XLIV highlights
Go to 3:30. Baskett choked. Hit him right in the leg and he wasn't ready for the play at all. He didn't recover it. Chris Reis did.
You are honestly telling me that Hank Baskett recovered that ball? He isn't even in the picture. Chris Reis recovered it, clear as day, then held on for dear life.
Reis already has control of the ball, and is down by contact before Baskett ever made it to the ball.
Ridiculous. This was one of the best reffed games I have ever seen on any level.
Yeah, they put it in slow motion to get the call right. Moore had control of the ball in the end zone. There was no question among any of the announcers. There is no question ANYWHERE in the news today. Moore had control and despite the ref blowing the call right in front of him, the ref got the correct call on instant replay. | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. I was not cheering for anyone in this game, I could have really cared less.
But when a team gets beat by 14pts i just dont see how you can blame the refs. When Manning threw a pick and failed to convert on 4th in situations where the team could not afford to do such, that was not the officiating.
It was a good game, and well called in my opinion.
Note: Look at the 2:26 mark in this video: YouTube - Super Bowl XLIV - Onside Kick! - Saints VS. Colts - Feb. 7th 2010!
You can clearly see that the Saints player was holding the ball on the nose, just like a running back, and had it pinned against his leg, just like a running back does with his stomach on a run.

Wow, just reading this thread. I can't believe you are saying the refs were paid off and there was corruption. It was an awesome game, and the Saints played brilliantly. Granted, I was def. for the Saints, but they won fair and square. At first the Colts were doing very well, but clearly the Saints played a better game in the last half, and they deserved to win. Besides, as I told my son for the game before this where the Saints won to get in the Super Bowl, and this one, as well, if I'm watching, the Saints will win...and they did.

I was not going to jump in the middle of this, but I could not let statments of bribing or questionable rulings cloud what is otherwise a joyous day for us Saints Fans.
The Saints out played, out manned, out smarted the Colts and Manning. I just don't understand why people can't let the Saints have their day. We have waited 4 decades for this!
So get over it!
This was our year, this is out time, this is our moment. If the Colts would have won, you would not be so quick to judge.
The Saints had one hell-of-a season and they came in meaning business. We believe they would win, Who Dat Nation had no doubts who would be victorious and we proved we had the heart, passion, skill to get the job done.
Here we stand, Superbowl Champions, against all odds!
Respect the game enough to let the Saints have their time. In the meantime, learn humillity in the process. By being a gracious loser, you will earn more respect.
BTW: before you tell me I am a woman and I don't know anything about the game and I never have thrown a football. Let me set the record straight now. I was born and raised in LA. I played football for more years than most boys. In addition I played on girls football teams. I know more about the game than most men do.
The Saints, the true Heart of Superbowl Champions!

Personal attacks are still against the rules here. If you all can't have a courteous discussion about the game, then I suggest you start talking about the commercials because this thread will get locked.

Congrats to the Saints! Long time coming......and I say that having lived through the really lean years in the 80's, when wearing a paper bag over one's head was quite the fashion forward statement for fans. The Ain'ts no more! Hey Mister, throw me DAT Super Bowl trophy.

How about those commericals? I didn't get a few of them. But the one with the '85 Chicago Bears doing their shuffle was funny.

We were defending the Saints and saying they won fair and square. I like Jeff, so I wouldn't personally attack him, but I will stand up and say that I can't believe he says the game was corrupt. That's an attack of a comment made.

the game to me was quite boring and the commercials were less than awesome. I had plenty of beer and wings to make the night fun. I am glad the Saints won over the Colts, but really could care less for either team.
I did like the Betty white commercial and a couple of the Dorito commercials, and the Tim Tebow commercial wasnt nearly as bad as they were trying to make it out to be.

"Underdog" (the Doritos one with the bark collar) was shot on a 5D Mark II, so I have to give it props, but so far my favourite was Google's "Parisian Love" for telling a story without dialogue or a single actor. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
