My newest best friend - 02-09-2010, 06:18 PM

After a lot of thought and anguish I decided to trade in my Taurus PT845 and Millenium Pro 9mm and go with the Glock 17 RTF. This Glock feels good with its' rough textured finish and is dead on accurate.
It's a much better made gun than the PT845 which I liked a lot. The Millenium Pro was going to be my carry piece, but I traded them both in for the new Glock.

First magazine though the gun came up with a group of 17 in a three inch circle at 21ft. Actually blew out the center of the target.

photo is a G22 but they are identical.

Since shooting in a club is my hope, I wanted to eliminate that face people made when I said I carried a Taurus. The same face the guy at the gun store made when I asked if he took trades.
I also found out that mags for the PT845 are impossible to get and Taurus in Florida was not sure they'd EVER get any to sell.
The G17 has lots of accessories and modifications available....

wait. so lemme get this straight. you're a photographer, but you're using a stock photo of a similar gun instead of taking your own picture?

17 rounds? No way, I would have to buy a magazine loader for that one.
Congrats!

Welcome back, Tom! you've got a nice piece there! Update us after you have several thousand rounds through it! (you can check the exif to see how many, right?)

I like Glock as a company, and I used to want one. However, after shooting one, I found the rake/angle on the grip to be a bit too severe for me. Not saying it is a bad gun - because it is great. Just saying it didn't fit my natural shooting style like I thought it would.

I used to hate Sig's until I fired one. Now I love them! My carry piece will probably be a Sig. Either my current P6, or a new model with bigger capacity and a better conceal...

Full power .357 loads out of a 2" barrel makes them make an entirely different face pretty quickly. Especially if they're not wearing good ear protection. Besides, there's something special about the look you get when you beat their fancy tacticool gear with an "unworthy" brand.

I figure that if I miss in a defensive situation, I've still set off a pretty good flashbang.

Wish I'd known, I might have offered you something on that 845. My PT99 has been really reliable, my 605 is equally solid, and I could use a good .45 without as much emotional attachment as granddad's 1911.
