I believe this to be a fallacy for a couple of reasons:
1. Unix and it's variants were designed from the ground up as multi-user operating systems. They are inherently more secure than Windows systems.
2. People with the skills to develop a major exploit for OS X would not be deterred by a lack of market share. Apple's market visibility and reputation far outshines their share of the computer market. The notoriety of creating a virus for an Apple product would provide the would-be Unix hacker with plenty of motivation!
