I have waited more than a year to shoot photos of a certain abandoned railroad bridge in the snow. Now is my chance! I want to shoot photos of the bridge and do some nude photography on the bridge. I left my house about 2 hours before the start of my work shift. When I got to my destination, I took my tripod, camera and a spare set of shoes with me. I got about 50 feet from my car, and was walking through a clearing with snow, when I felt my only set of house keys slide down my leg. I dug out and sifted almost all the snow in the area, but I could not find my keys. Convinced that I might never find them unaided, I bought a metal detector at Fry's Electronics and returned to the area to assemble and use the metal detector. I also called my boss, to let her know what was happening.
As I sat in the parking lot putting together the metal detector, I noticed a police car pull up to my left. I dropped the metal detector in the seat next to me, losing one of the nuts in the process, got out of my car and approached the police officer, who got out of his cruiser. He asked me some questions, such as what I was doing out there with a rifle, as a second police cruiser pulled up on the other side of my car. I explained that I did not have a gun, but I had a metal detector that I was trying to assemble to find my only set of house keys.
Then, the officer asked me what I was doing out there. I took a deep breath, and told him that I am a photographer, and I was there to photograph an abandoned railroad bridge that is highly valued by us local photographers. He said, "I bet its really nice with all this snow!" I was relieved that he didn't kick me out and tell me never to return. After the officers investigated, they said they would leave me alone and wished me luck in finding my keys. I finished assembling the metal detector, figured out how to use it (I've never used one, before) and ran back to where I thought I had lost my keys. I hunted around for a few minutes, before I saw a small piece of my house keys sticking up through the snow of my footprint. Out of frustration, I ran the metal detector over it, and the detector confirmed that it is ferrous metal.
My boss called me just then, asking me if I was on my way in to work, yet. I asked if I could have another hour, but she said we were short-handed, as one of our other department workers had already called out. So, reluctantly, I got back into my car and drove straight to work.
I was upset that I spent all my time looking for my keys, besides a lot of money on the metal detector. On the other hand, it is likely that the police were called the first time I arrived, as someone mistook my camera tripod for a rifle. So, the police were going to investigate. If I had not dropped my keys enroute to the bridge, it is likely that the police would have caught up to me as I was standing naked by the bridge. That would have been more difficult to explain.

LMAO
That sucks! It was just one of those days, they happen every now and then, and all you can do it sit back and laugh at it.
There's always tomorrow. 8-)

The other side of the situation is that if you had been naked, you wouldn't have had on pants for the keys to fall out of... you would have gotten the photo, not spent the money on the metal detector.. and possibly met the cops au naturel.

I did finally get to pose at the bridge, before I went in to work, today. I've gone without breakfast or a shower for two days. I'm glad it's finally my weekend.
