I fly a lot. Especially internationally. I honestly can't say I've had any trouble out of the TSA. And I've been doing this going on four years now. Sure, they ask to go through my carry-on every now-and-again, but it takes only a few minutes and I'm through.

Then again, I travel alone, follow the rules, have my laptop out, belt & shoes off by the time I get to the scanner. Anyone who travels on a consistent basis knows the drill.

What I'm not looking forward to is the full body scanning machine that basically takes a picture of EVERYTHING. In England, if you refuse the body image scanner, you are automatically put on the no-fly list. At least, that's what was put out in the Singapore newspaper here.

that's awful - to add to that, did you hear about the tsa agent to purposefully planted a baggie of white powder in a college student's bag - then proceeded to grill her over it, and after reducing her to tears...said...just kidding? course, they fired his butt - but still... I had a TSA agent that unzipped a compartment to look through it in my checked bag. They didn't zip it back up. I lost my car and house keys.

I filed a complaint with the TSA that they didn't zip my bag back up and I lost a few items.

I got a nice big "Go **** yourself" from TSA.

They are completely worthless.

I can not agree more!!!! Very well put. I have had a knee replaced so let me say I get to meet a lot of them personally, like every time I fly. It makes flying a real pain.

Let's see, from a couple hundred years ago...

"Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Benjamin Franklin

"In a state of tranquility, wealth, and luxury, our descendants would forget the arts of war and the noble activity and zeal which made their ancestors invincible. Every art of corruption would be employed to loosen the bond of union which renders our resistance formidable. When the spirit of liberty, which now animates our hearts and gives success to our arms, is extinct, our numbers will accelerate our ruin and render us easier victims to tyranny. If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animating contest of freedom—go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!"

John Adams

I do a lot of traveling, and mostly international. I've connected through London, Amsterdam and Frankfurt many times and find that there is less confusion, and
I've been handled much better overseas than here in the USA.
What I don't like is the yelling to "remove your shoes and place laptops in a
separate container". A sign would do just as well....

LOL - there are signs. People think the signs don't apply to them.

Just think if they do pass the new Battery rules they want to for Lithium Batteries. It's basically none allowed in checked in bags and the only ones allowed in carry ons have to be in the devices (i.e. No spares).
Very very crappy.

Those rules were put into place two years ago and are not very well enforced. The camera batteries still shooters use generally do not have near enough lithium to matter to these idiots.

Laptop batteries and many video camera batteries do qualify.

Under their rules, if they are packed in their original packaging or do not have their terminals exposed (gaffer's tape), then it doesn't matter.

That's the old rule - TSA put up a new rule for comment about a month ago where it applies to ALL Li batteries, even hearing aid size. Claims it is due to the number of explosions and fires started by them over the years.

I'll try and find the media story. It's ridiculous. It also means that most electronics manufactured overseas would be charged a premium to be air shipped to the US, and even electronics bought in the US could not be air Fedexed and crap like that.
