Oddly enough, we are working towards a wedding booking in Cartagena. Just wanted get impressions of the country or more specifically, that area, from someone who's been there.

Probably not much help, but....

I've never been to Cartagena, but I used to fly in to Barranquilla, a lot. And although I never spent any real time there, I always enjoyed it, and found the people to be very friendly. Good source for cheap coffee, too.

Sounds like a fun trip.

It's been years, but it is a neat city, especially if you are going to have a local friend as a guide. I would be careful at night, it can be sketchy, much like any other decent sized city, but other than that it has some wonderful old architecture that should lend itself well to some fun shooting. And if you have access to transportation there are some nice shorelines in the area.

When going to any foreign company always check the State Department Country reports.

Best advice here. You won't be in Kansas anymore. Make sure you keep the phone number to the embassy on you at all times. Consider hiring a local guide to take you to some spots to shoot, in addition to knowledge of the area they could aid you in getting access.
