1911 Style 22 - 02-23-2010, 02:05 PM

I have been looking at 2 different models, the Chiappa 1911-22 and the GSG 1911. I almost bought the Chiappa last week, but backed out at the last minute. I have read lots of reviews on it and seems like a pretty good little plinker. The GSG, on the other hand has a more authentic look, controls are in the same place and all that, but it still hasn't been released and I have yet to find much info on it.

Anyone got any thoughts on either of these? By the way, the Kimber is waaaaaaaaay out of my price range. Also, I am wanting a full gun, not just a slide/barrel conversion.

GSG has been releasing a lot of cool .22 firearms. They are all supposed to be pretty reliable... Don't know anything about the Chiappa.

I can't offer any help, but a quick search over on the 1911forum.com will yield lots of information. Some of those guys really know their stuff, when it comes to the 1911.

I was in the market for the same thing and most people just pointed me in the direction of a .22 conversion kit for my 1911. IIRC, they're about $300 and can be un/installed in a few minutes. As for a .22 only 1911, I'm not sure.

Kimber makes one (and conversion slides) and I sold many when in the biz...Their only drawback for me is the mostly aluminum construction; it just didn't have the heft I like...It is a fine shooting pistol for sure......Ben

Nope, Llama went under several years ago. I had a 1911 by them and it shot one hole groups. It was one of my favorite pistols until someone kicked in my door and decided they needed more than I did. They made off with a Desert Eagle and a rifle too...
