Where my lens went, part deaux... - 02-25-2010, 03:42 PM

Well, for those of you who enjoyed the saga of the first half of my week in this thread, here comes the sequel!

When we got the dog home Tuesday night, we found our daughter on the couch with a mild fever and generally not feeling well. A little tylenol, a little sleep, and a day off from school. Come Wednesday night, off to our son's baseball game (they won, lousy lights, lousy pictures--need a D700 for the high iso, but that ain't gonna happen anytime soon). We got home to find Robin still on the couch, complaining about a pain in her stomach and right side. It didn't go away, so we took her to the emergency clinic around midnight. Their cat scanner was having issues, so they transferred us to a full-up hospital ER where they determined that Robin's appendix was inflamed and needed to come out.

She had the surgery this morning and I'm happy to say all went well. Sorry, I couldn't get any pictures of the appendix to share on this thread...

I love the medical folks to death, but I've seen enough of them this week.

Good lawd Ken! You've certainly had a week! However I am glad to hear that your daughter, and dog are ok.

And its ok... I'll forego the appendix pics

I agree....you've had enough for one week! Sorry your daughter had to have surgery too....that really sucks. I hope she gets to come home soon.

Good choice on getting her to the ER that night too. Thankfully, I see you didn't consider the fifty cent alternative here. :-D You are 0/2 in the battle of the budget this week, but 2/2 in good outcomes, so count your blessings.

Thanks everyone for the wishes and concern. Honestly, this is the most drama this household has seen in years. She's doing pretty well--I just talked to her on the phone and she's as bossy as ever.

Tom: I'll keep a watch out for the third one--hopefully I'm it. I ended up with bronchitis and called in sick the other night for a trip, which really pained me to do. I'm sure glad now that I did. Otherwise I'd be somewhere between Honolulu and Guam right now; definitely NOT the place to be with a kid in the hospital.

Lisa: Nah, the fifty cent option was never on the table in this case. I'll get my money back through slave labor when she's better.

I know it wasn't. Just like it wasn't really an option with the pup.

Yeah... Like my wife says, I'm all talk. I do feel incredibly lucky that we were able to catch both events before they became more serious. I'm glad too that I read somewhere that an appendicitis often shows up as pain in the stomach and side before it migrates to the groin, at which time it's much more serious.

I'm wanting to get into playing with portraiture a bit. I think someone can work off her appendectomy $ by modeling for her old man...
