A friend was looking at some shots on my EP-1 this morning when he fumbled it as he tried to hand it back. It hit the concrete from about three feet. He could not get to HCE fast enough in order to buy me a new camera. A very honorable guy. I felt bad about his having to spend all that money but took the camera anyway. Was I right in doing so? I would have done the same but still.....

The photos are fogged; he's going to send it in to Olympus. The 17mm lens seems to be okay. Most of my cameras are Nikon but I have a great story about Canon. A few years ago I fell on a boulder while carrying my wifes brand new ELF P&S. I sent it to Canon telling them how it got so beat up and that it was my fault. They fixed it for free and had it back to me in ten days. Good company even if they aren't named Nikon.

Although when I first read it, EP1 is a first generation Civic SI (in the states) and I was like..."how did it take pictures!!!???"

Yes I think you were right in taking the camera. I also think as someone said above you have a very honorable friend and that is more important than anything.

Definitely accept the camera, and definitely make a very nice gesture to show you appreciate his friendship. Actions like his should always be rewarded.
