Why would you charge someone any amount of money to shoot a wedding if you only have a kit lens and don't even know how the fundamentals of photography (aperture, shutter speed, etc) relate to each other?!? I see nothing wrong with someone charging to shoot a wedding, even if they don't have the best gear, but you should not be taking jobs as a pro when you are really an novice. | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. We wouldn't have even learned of her name, had she not gone on a nationally syndicated television show. If that isn't asking for attention, what is?
Let me guess, you clicked the FB link I posted? You don't need to answer that, but one sure can hedge a bet. Not to mention, one can control just how much information to share via Facebook, so what real reason do you have for climbing up that high horse?

no - i didn't click on the link - take all the bets you want. the real reason? it happened on here once before...internet lynching - and it wasn't pretty. just trying to keep it this forum a nice place to be - but i guess that really isn't my job, so do whatever you want - and i'll bet that you will do just that.

I wanted to see her portfolio too, if the work she presented was way beyond what she delivered to her client then it was a fair ruling, if it was comparable, the bride knew what she was getting into.
She probably would have gotten a better ruling (not lost twice what she charged) if she just shut her mouth though. Talking back to the judge does not help you!
Contracts people! Always have clear contracts! Especially when dealing with family and friends. I watch way too much People's Court and most of the cases would have never gotten to court if there was a clear contract.

I'm more curious to see JJB's portfolio.

I LOVE IT! If the woman hadn't been so argumentative JJB might have been a little easier on her.
I know of a wedding photographer in the Dallas area she might like to team up with. He might be able to give her some pointers on advertising, too.

I don't know much about the pro photographers these days, or they have short memory remembering basic technicality. I can recall most of the pictures taken in what aperture, shutter settings, and whatnot. In fact, if you do this for living, with the equipment you are familiar with, you can briefly tell the values by looking at the picture and lighting condition, down to the point why such settings were used.
I guess she done 100 of professional wedding in Green Box. Shame....

It's a GREAT place to be! Its fun and educational...
And look at that, we all just learned how NOT to talk to a judge.
