She lost just by going on the show. Even if the photographer had won the case, she lost by airing her dirty laundry on national TV. I don't believe we heard the truth out of either one of them.

I personally think the ruling was unjust. Maybe its just me, but the lady should have known what she was in for if she did any research at all. But to double the award because of the "judges" take on photography? To me that was a dangerous exercise of power.
Do you want the judge to be your "peer" when it comes to "your" photography?

I think his ruling was rather lenient. He could have thrown her in jail.....

Thrown her in jail? I have no idea what TV show you guys are talking about, but I'm a bit confused about how someone in a civil case could be thrown in jail as a penalty, unless you are talking about for some type of contempt of court during the actual proceeding? Please enlighten me.......

Yep, bad ruling by the "judge." But, it's "reality TV" not a real court.

The guy has no power to jail anyone, either.

People who agree to go on those shows are just attention whores. They get what they get, including people making fun of them.

Lisa, my wife used to watch those shows all the time and she told me one case where one of the sides of the case wasnt careful about what he was talking about and admitted to a felony in the process of presenting his case.. he was hauled off to jail. I think it was the show with a Texas Judge too.

You're right. I wasn't thinking of this as a civil case. I'm always in criminal mode.

I guess she done 100 of professional wedding in Green Box. Shame....
+1. The settings come from the situation, but also shooting style. Within reason, most of what I shoot is done wide open, manual mode, ambient or flashes. It's how I roll. Most true pros think outside the green box because we're control freaks!

From another forum:

Quote:
I work at a professional studio in the city where the plaintiff lives. She brought us the photographs to see if there was any way to fix them. After looking at the EXIF data on the JPEGS that she had, we found that the defendant photographed in JPEG, medium resolution, ISO 1600, Srgb colorspace. Upon doing her edits, the defendant used a free online editing program and saved over the originals. The color of the 4x6's from WalMart were horrendous, with virtually no shadow detail and color casting

Egads. At that point the best thing she could have done was offer a refund to the customer and remember to check all of her settings before the next job.

Then again, after watching the video, I'm not certain she knows what all those settings mean anyway.

Yeah, I doubt she understands the settings.

The only thing that makes me cringe is that people like her are out there taking away work from real professionals.

She's shot hundreds of weddings but can only afford a Rebel, and a P&S for her partner?

I am 100% certain that she was lying about shooting hundreds and hundreds of weddings.

If she had shot 500 weddings - all shoot and burns - at $1300, she would have grossed $650,000. It is obvious she wasn't spending that money on a hair stylist or clothes. She has probably shot a handful of weddings and mostly as a second shooter or tagalong.
